Health Information Systems
What is Health Informatics?
Health informatics is an interdisciplinary science that deals with clinical health information exchange (“HIE”); its structure (e.g. electronic medical records, interoperability/standards development); acquisition (e.g. data warehouses, info architecture, privacy & security); and use (e.g. clinical decision support, outcomes research)… and the application of computers and technology in healthcare settings (e.g. CPOE, evidence-based medicine, clinical data analytics).
Informatics is concerned with the optimal use of patient information, aided by the use of technology, to improve patient care, biomedical research and public health.
As you can imagine, there are significant legal and regulatory compliance issues arising out of each of these aspects of health informatics. LindgrenLaw is standing by to support you.
